A Long Walk to Water.

The book A Long Walk to Water takes place with two different people in two different times. One of the stories has a main character named Salva, which takes place in 1985. The other story is about a girl named Nya,which takes place in 2008. Salva is forced to flee his home in southern Sudan because it is plagued by war. Nya's home which is also in southern Sudan is in desperate need of fresh water. They will meet in the end of the book to solve their problems.

The theme of this book is probably that you need to keep moving on. One example of this in the book was when Salva's uncle told him to keep moving forward." 'Do you see that group of bushes? You need to walk as far as those bushes. Can you do that Salva Mawien Dut Ariik?' " (Pg.53) Another example was when Salva's friend Marial suddenly vanished, with no sign of him." ' I'm sorry, Salva, your friend...' "(Pg.38) My last example of this was when Nya's sister was hopelessly sick with the nearest hospital miles away."Most of the adults and older children who fell sick recovered at least enough to work again."(Pg.39)These are just a few examples of the theme which is that you need to keep moving on in life and  be strong when times are tough.

This is a really great book because it would appeal to all age groups. I would recommend this book for the adventurous reader. This book is also based on a true story, so it makes it even more exciting! This book is tragic, uplifting, and fast paced. I highly recommend this amazing story.
