It was a blazing hot day in Fairbanks, Alaska. We were being swarmed by mosquitoes as usual. I could smell the oil from my dad's truck mixed with the smell of chicken noodle soup that was cooking in the kitchen. I was in the garage with my big brother Cristian and my dad. Saw dust covered the floor, with wood and tools everywhere. We were all staring at my dad's old pickup truck. My dad was just changing out the spark plugs but it felt like forever. I could feel the grease and oil on my fingers from the truck. There was drop of sweat from my brother's head that free fell to the ground. It was silent.
Cristian broke the silence saying, " What's wrong with the truck?"
"I'm just changing out the spark plugs." my dad replied.
"Are you sure that's all that you're doing?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" Dad said.
"Well, it looks really dirty and grimy. Aren't you gonna clean it up a little?"
"Ya, I guess that I should clean it up a little!"
"Okay."
There was a long pause for awhile. Until my dad said,"So I'm gonna be strait to the point with you guys."
"What is it dad?" I asked.
"What if I told you guys that you...had another brother?"
"Ya, Zach!" Cristian exclaimed.
Zach is one of his best friends.
"Um, not quite."my dad chuckled.
"Ya, right!" I laughed.
My dad paused again then said,"Well, you do."
"Really?!" Cristian asked in disbelief.
"Great! Just what I need, another Cristian!"I joked.
"Hey!" Cristian replied quickly.
It was quiet once again.
My dad went on,"His name is Travis and he's about 26 by now."
"Well, do we get to meat him or not?" I asked.
"I don't know, maybe next week."I saw a grin unfold on his face.
I ran into the house where my grandparents were sitting and eating their lunch.
"Hey!" I said.
"What?"asked my Grandma.
"Did you know that Cristian and I had another brother?"
"Of course we did."
"Then why didn't anyone tell us?"
"We didn't think that you were ready for it."
"Ready? I've been wanting another brother!"
It turns out that we did get to meet Travis at a restaurant with his now ex girlfriend. The weirdest part was probably that he looked just like my dad! Except he didn't have a mustache or big glasses. We told jokes, messed around, and bonded like crazy! It was like we knew each other forever! That was one of the most memorable nights of my life!

Bailey, this is a really nice blog. I hope you keep it up. You have a very nice way of writing. I especially enjoyed reading about when you and Cristian met your brother Travis. I cannot wait to see you! It will come sooner than you think : )
